PORTFOLIO
This photo was taken for the pattern and texture assignment in term 1. What I like about this photo is how bold the color of the flower is and how the raindrops catch a bit of light and make it look like it is sparkling a bit. My point of view was was leaning over the bench to peek out of some leaves to catch a glimpse of the bold red flower. The photo follows the rule of thirds because the clearest, most colorful part of the photo is focused on the top horizontal line and the green leaf on the left draws your eye down through the photo so that you can experience the whole photo. The depth of field is very small because I came close to the flower to take the picture because at the time I could not figure out the zoom. The ISO was set high to let in as much natural light as possible and the White Balance was set to direct light because even though it was cloudy outside the sun was still shining through.
I selected this photo because I believe that it represents a strong and well composed photo. Compositionally, there is harsh color contrasts because red and green and opposites. To take this photo I had the camera set on a fast shutter speed because the wind blew the raindrops so they looked a bit blurry so i turned the shutter speed higher. Looking at this photo, the compositional element that is most apparent is the beauty of natures natural colors. When I edited this photo, I adjusted the levels to brighten the photo a bit and increased the saturation so that the colors popped a bit more.
This photo communicates/reminds me of/ makes me think of how easy it is to walk by something and not notice it but when you stop and "smell a rose" you can see the beauty in under-appreciated things.

I selected this photo because I admire its simplicity. Compositionally, there is a clean white teacup with dried up rose peddles pouring out. Also there is contrast shown by the colors inside the cup, not just outside it.To take this photo I had the camera set on a normal to high shutter speed because i did not need it slow. Looking at this photo, the compositional element that is most apparent is the camera focus on the rose peddles. When I edited this photo, I adjusted the levels and increased the saturation along with using color control to intensify the color of the rose peddles. The camera was set to direct light because I was shotting in studio and I had the lights. This photo communicates simplicity and sophistication and how well man made things and nature made things go together
This photo was taken for the aperture assignment. What I like about this photo is just the way the rose peddles look. The ISO was set at about 600 because there was a lot of light and the White Balance was set to direct light because I had the lights in the studio.

I chose this photo because I admire how centered and even this photo is. Compositionally, there is clean and in gray scale. Also there is clean defined lines around the edge of the flower. Looking at this photo, the compositional element that is most apparent is the flower as a whole. The darkened stem and the light peddles provide a beautiful contrast. When I edited this photo, I adjusted
the levels and put the photo into gray scale to make it black and white. This photo reminds me of the simple beauty of nature, it also reminds me of the day that we shot and how it was damp and humid but nice out. This photo was taken for the pattern and texture assignment. What I like about this photo is how your attention is immediately drawn to the flower. The photo breaks the rule of thirds because the flower is completely centered. The ISO was set to to 1000 and the White Balance was set to cloudy because it was a bit gloomy on the day of the shoot.
